Arthur started painting 19 years ago out of a desire to pour the images he saw in his head into physical pictures. He studied photography at the Art Academy of The Hague, after which he turned to painting to better able to express that which wanted to come out. In the beginning the gap between what he’d seen in his head and what came out of his hands was huge. But he was driven, obsessed even and he ploughed on and slowly that gap became smaller and smaller. At one point he turned to digital art as a faster way to put images down. Nowadays he does both since each medium has it’s advantages. He has exhibitions in Amsterdam, where he lived. He also does illustration work for bookcovers and concept art for film.
